Makes 3 slices french toast.
Ingredients:
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence (vanilla extract)
- 1 teaspoon sugar (optional)
- 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 3/4 cup milk
- 2 slices of thick white bread
- Pinch of salt to taste
- Pat of unsalted butter or light olive oil
Preparation:
- Whip egg, vanilla, cinnamon, sugar, salt, and milk until light and frothy.
- Heat a shallow frying pan and season with butter.
- Dip bread, one half at a time, in mixture briefly.
- Place into hot frying pan and cook until golden brown.
- Serve hot with scoop of ice cream, drizzled with maple syrup, or stewed fruit and dusted with powdered sugar.
