Makes 1 pot coffee.
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons coffee grinds per each 6 oz cup
- Filtered water
- Coffee maker
Preparation:
- Keep coffee-making equipment clean.
- We recommend bottled or filtered water for brewing. Freshly drawn cold tap water is acceptable.
- Grind coffee beans just before brewing.
- When using a paper filter, rinse it with hot water before use.
- Measure your coffee precisely: one standard coffee measure (2 tablespoons) per each 6 oz. cup.
- Do not boil. Coffee should be brewed between 195 and 205 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Store brewed coffee in a thermos or use a vacuum pot to keep it hot. (Do not keep coffee on a burner or hotplate for more than 20 minutes or its flavor will deteriorate.)
- Avoid reheating coffee: micro-waving coffee alters the chemistry of the coffee and the taste suffers.
- Store one week’s worth of coffee in an airtight opaque container
at room temperature and buy new beans as often as possible.
Is there a correct grind for my individual coffee-maker, and how do I find out what this is?
Every coffee-maker has its correct grind. You can find out the correct grind of your individual coffee-maker by contacting your machine's manufacturer or following these guidelines:
French Press: Very Coarse
Drip Coffee: Coarse
Espresso machine with crema-enhancing device: Medium to Medium
Fine.
Commercial Style Espresso Machines: Very fine, almost like powder.
(You will find that old dry coffee must be ground finer than
fresh roasted coffee.)
